Abstracts and Presentation Information

SPNHC-NSCA Meeting 2006 Logo

Abstract deadline has passed!

Participants were invited to present a paper at the meeting which can be presented orally or as a poster. The submitted papers will be assembled into topical sessions on subjects related to all aspects of natural history collection care and management, but papers focusing on the meeting’s theme of Productive Partnerships were especially encouraged. If there are a greater number of oral presentations than time available, the conference committee may choose to run concurrent sessions or change the mode of presentation (e.g. oral to poster).

Oral presentations are 15 minutes, including time for questions and discussion, and must be made in PowerPoint. Abstracts are required for both oral and poster presentations and were accepted electronically until 10 April 2006. The Program Committee will accept abstracts as written and will not edit your submission.

Presentation information

Thanks to all those who submitted an abstract for the 2006 joint SPNHC-NSCA annual meeting!

Oral presentations:

In order to have a productive and positive experience at the sessions as well as speedy transitions, we recommend that you plan on your talk being approximately 13 min, including time for questions and answers. The 15 minute time slots do not apply to speakers in the Special Sessions. All oral presentations should be prepared using Microsoft Office PowerPoint or equivalent (e.g. OpenOffice Impress) for PC. Although we have the ability to transfer Apple-based files to a PC, often the rendering of images and font mismatches combine to create a very different presentation. You are strongly encouraged to submit your finished presentation in advance. Send it as an email attachment to tomas@unm.edu before May 23rd. A secure FTP server is also available. Alternatively, turn in your presentation on a CD/DVD or memory stick (USB) to the registration desk by 5pm of the DAY BEFORE your scheduled talk. Please, include your name and your contact information at the meeting (e.g. hotel name and room number). If there's a problem, every effort will be made to contact you promptly. In addition to an LCD projector and computer, each speaker will have access to a microphone/speaker.

Poster presentations

Posters should be no bigger than 1.1m x 1.1m (44" x 44") as two posters will be mounted to a 1.2m H x 2.2m W (~4' x 7.8') display board. The display boards have a horizontal orientation and their bottom edge is approximately 95cm (3.1') above the floor. You can mount your poster with supplied pushpins or Velcro fasteners. Unfortunately, we cannot provide power or tables and internet access is also not available.
