Dharm Vireo Pellegrini Memorial Research Scholarship

GENERAL AWARD INFORMATION

The award honors the memory of Dharm Vireo Pellegrini who devoted his life to field studies of birds, particularly the Least Bell's Vireo and Southwestern Willow Flycatcher.

Deadline: Application March 14, 2008, 12:00 PM, MST

Rationale: This scholarship is to support an undergraduate or a graduate student in pursuit of field research for the benefit of the Museum of Southwestern Biology.

Scholarship amount: There is approximately $1,000 available this year. It is anticipated that two scholarships of at least $500 each are to be given this year.

Eligibility: This scholarship is available to students based on the following criteria: Admitted or enrolled in the undergraduate or graduate Biological science program, performing ornithology field research, maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and preference is given to students with US citizenship.

Preference for award is based on the following criteria:
First preference will be provided to a student doing field research pertaining to the protection and preservation of the “Least Bell’s Vireo”.
Second preference will be given to any student doing field research pertaining to the protection and preservation of birds that are currently or likely to be considered endangered.
Third preference will be any student doing field research pertaining to any species of birds.
Fourth preference will be provided to any student doing field research pertaining to endangered species other than birds.

Proposal Requirement: In addition to the research proposal, a budget is required and it is to address the spending of $500.
